Alfred Gessow

University of Maryland's rotorcraft center is named after former Department of Aerospace Engineering Chair Alfred Gessow (1922-2002). His pioneering work helped establish precise methods of rotor analysis, and the center was established with support from the U.S. Army Research Office and the U.S. Army, Navy, and NASA to carry out multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary research.
